As Nissan-Canton continues to engage in unfair labor practices by threatening workers who report work-related injuries with drug tests that might threaten their employment, we’ve documented stories of workers who have lost their jobs after a company sponsored drug test returned with a positive result; even after the worker’s sought independent tests that came back with negative results.
Our goal is to force Nissan to discontinue this practice and policy. There are years of research that make this practice antiquated and useless, not to mention a distinct violation of OSHA rules regarding providing a safe workplace environment where workers are comfortable reporting injuries.
One Voice’s campaign will highlight the stories of workers who have been wronged as a result of this policy. This work continues by providing on-going leadership and community organizing skill building to Nissan workers, documenting abuses at the Nissan-Canton plant, and shaming Nissan by highlighting bad labor practices in the news and social media.
