One Voice is working in communities throughout Mississippi to raise awareness about the critical need to enact commonsense criminal justice reforms and reduce the excessive rate of incarceration in our state. Mississippi has the third-highest incarceration rate in the nation, making this an urgent issue in our state and a major priority for the upcoming elections—especially for African American communities who are disproportionately burdened by a broken and biased criminal justice system.
While we are focused on reforms at all levels of the criminal justice system, we understand the tremendous influence district attorneys have on local criminal justice processes and their ability to greatly impact incarceration rates in our state.
Voters need to be aware of the significant impact of district attorneys so they can make informed voting decisions that help advance the fight for criminal justice reform in Mississippi. Criminal Justice Reform advocates and concerned citizens can use the social media toolkit below to raise awareness about these issues.

Every Vote Counts
Mass incarceration is having a dramatic and devastating effect on communities of color in Mississippi, which has damaged the social fabric, disrupted economic growth, and depleted opportunities for far too many citizens. Electing progressive DAs is essential to successful, sustainable criminal justice reform because they have a direct influence on key issues, including the type of charges a person faces, bail recommendations, the use of diversion programs, and sentencing recommendations
Commit to voting in the upcoming elections by completing the form below. We will send you reminders to vote in the primary and general elections. You can help reform Mississippi’s criminal justice system now so we can begin the process of drastically reducing the prison population and eliminating much of the racial inequality that persists within our justice system.
