Passing the Torch

The Hollis Watkins Muhammad Leadership Development Institute was designed as a resource to identify the next generation of activist and provide them with the tools to succeed in their field. Named after Civil Rights legend Hollis Watkins Muhammad, the program gives college students the opportunity to develop the knowledge base to mount campaigns, operate non-profits, and create programs for social development.

  • A graduate student, undergraduate student, or have graduated from an accredited college within twelve months of beginning the internship program.
  • In good standing at the college or university; and
  • Be able to work between 15 to 30 hours per week

Winter/Spring: January – April

Summer: May – August

Fall: September – December

Applicants are asked to submit the following documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  • Application Form (Found Above)
  • Cover/Intent Letter
  • Resume
  • Provide an Essay (500-600) on the following topic: “What Does Social Justice Mean to You?”
